Organic Cotton

Organic Cotton Field

Only 0.7% of global cotton grown last year was organic cotton. So that means over 99% of all the cotton tee shirts, jackets, dresses, bed sheets, hats, sweaters, blankets, etc. purchased last year were made using conventional cotton.  Conventional cotton meaning GMO’s, extremely chemical intensive processes, hefty greenhouse gas emissions, and very little regulation along the entire supply chain. In fact, about 20% of all pesticides and 25% of all insecticides used last year were for conventionally grown cotton, and The World Bank estimates that almost 20% of all industrial water pollution comes from dying cotton.

For us it was a no-brainer, we had to use organic cotton.  The quality is equal or better than any conventionally grown cotton.  The farming methods are just like what they used to be, before the introduction of GMO's, and all the chemicals so common in conventional cotton fields.  The organic methods promote biodiversity and boost healthy eco-systems.  They also greatly improve the quality of soil and often times use less water.  Organic farming is difficult.  It requires more work, more expertise and is currently more expensive.  But we have no doubt it's worth it, and we will continue to support the organic farming community.

All of our organic cotton is certified by an accredited third party organization that monitors each step in the supply chain (farms, factories and distribution) to ensure that the cotton is truly organic as defined by USDA's National Organic Program.  To learn more about GOTS Organic Cotton click the link below.

Sizing & Fit

Organic Cotton Flannel

Sizing

For our button downs and popovers ,if you are looking for a more relaxed fit or plan on layering thicker shirts underneath we recommend you order one size up from your normal size.

Don't forget we offer free returns and exchanges so if you are unsure about sizing feel free to order a couple sizes and return whatever doesn't fit.  You can also shoot us an email if you are looking for sizing help at support@wearbighorn.com.

Fit

We classify our products into two fit categories: Classic Fit and Tailored Fit.  Each product has one of these fits listed in the product description.

Classic Fit describes a more relaxed traditional fit.  Classic fit shirts will have more room through the body and arms.  Our branded tees have this fit.

Tailored Fit is a more modern or athletic fit.  It will be slightly tailored in the body and arms for a sharper look without limiting movement or being too tight for comfort.  Our button downs and the majority of our products have this fit.  If you are in between sizes, we recommend ordering the larger size.
